A: The mountain can not be seen from the site.

A: To the west there is no river near by.

A: All trees within the site have been cleared.

A: This school is part of education services to the new high tech commercial zone.

A: There is small old temple in near by south-east street corner area. The areas surrounding the site are all residential. There are planning eating, drinking facilities and shops in the zone.
Q: Do you have any 3D model in CAD showing the surrounding massing and site photos?
A: The site is in a brand new district. But we can envisage there will be high density commercial and residential development around the site in the future (height limit 60m)
Q: Who is the host of this competition?
A: It is hosted by WE Design, University College London (UCL), and Sichuan Provincial Institute of Architectural Design.
Q: Which magazine will the winning project be published on?
A: It will be published on both internationally and nationally renowned magazines and will be exhibited in London and China.
Q: With regards to the architecture deadlines, if I submit the work on the 10th, can I then resubmit further developed work for the 20th deadline with no penalty? Will you just take the last submission I sent as the completed submission and disregard the earlier one?
A: Yes, you can submit twice without penalty. We will only use the last one for final jury toward the award.
Q: Will online learning be used in this school?
A: Yes. It has been experimented and used in the school in the old campus.
Q: Do you have to make sure all the required rooms and areas are met in the design?
A: Approximately meeting the requirement is good enough. This is a conceptual design competition. Creative concept and the designer’s thinking for the questions raised in the brief are valued.
Q: I have one more question regarding the option to resubmit a second time before the 20th of March. Is this in order to allow develope further the design and the material ? During the first submission do we have to include all the requested materials, ie CD with images or can we submit just the boards and then resubmit them?
A: The second submission give people more time do what they want. We can’t change the first deadline due to the construction program. All participates can attend second submission and toward the prizes, even without submitting for the first deadline. Yes, all the minimum requirements shall be submitted in the first submission in order to win the opportunity for construction. You can continue developing your scheme and resubmit for the second deadline. Only submit the JPG files by email.
Q: Which is the focus of the competition (architecture category), architecture, masterplan or both?
A: Both. But only on conceptual level. We are looking for creative proposals.
Q: Is this competition all about conceptual work? Isn’t there any limitations to bring the work to a reality?
A: This is a conceptual competition. There is no limitation/requirement for the proposal to be built. The judging criterion is based on the creativity and rational analysis demonstrated in the scheme.
Q: I would like to know if there are any more technical data concerning the school in Sichuan, ie how many students the school is for, if known or websites with general information about high schools in China.

A: Only JPG files as set out in the Requirement. We will contact the author of winning scheme later for 3D models to assist in making the prototype for exhibitions.

A: Yes.
Q: May I ask the name of the high school in this Competition? Do you have any background info about the site?
A: The name of the school will not be released at this stage. It is not considered critical information for this conceptual design competition. The site plan and photos are available for download on this website.

A: Apart from filling in your registration form, there is no other registration or fee required to be paid for entering this competition. If interested in participating in this competition, please send in your entries before the deadline.

A: 第二阶段是为了给大家更充裕的时间设计。由于项目进度的要求，我们不能更改第一个截止日期。无论在第一阶段提交于否，所有的参赛者都可以参加第二阶段的评奖。是的，为了获得在实际项目实施的机会，第一阶段的提交文件需包含所有要求。你可以继续发展方案，在20号提交。所有文件需为JPG格式用Email提交即可。
